We all wish our athlete and coaching helper Titus massive GOOD LUCK competing in the British Champs Biathlon this week in Rupholding, Germany!
As 2019 draws to an end, we can look back on an interesting year.
For the first time, our club had the use of a proper tartan track on our doorstep. All is not quite resolved for, as we speak the, school applied for and had roundly rejected, its Retrospective Planning Permission and is now going through the process of reapplying. The omens are good that the matter can be resolved satisfactorily for all and our local community and the school can benefit from this wonderful facility.
The club was delighted to welcome Jacob Wilkinson and Lianne Miller-Hall to our coaching family. Jacob competes and helps with coaching when he is on his holidays from Swansea University where he is studying to become an Osteopath. Lianne is a tremendous addition to our flourishing Junior Group. Speaking of this group, Dauntsey's pupil Titus Clark also volunteers to help in his free time and is very popular with the youngsters. Titus competes in Biathlon and Nordic Cross Country skiing and as I write this, we wait to see if he is going to be selected to compete at the World Championships in Switzerland at the end of January 2020. We are all crossing our fingers for him!
Huge congratulations were in order for our U20 athlete Alex Clothier who represented Wiltshire in Decathlon at the National Combined Events in September.
The Club continues to welcome students from Fairfield farm College and one in particular, Mitch Brown is awaiting his final international classification in the cerebral palsy classification. He has taken part in several Cerebral Palsy competitions and done very well.
The club is always looking for more volunteers and assistant coaches, so if any of you feel you could help, you would be welcomed with open arms. Please contact Deborah and let her know.
Circuits will restart Monday 13 January and the Juniors on Thursday 16 January 2020.
Finally, I would like to wish everyone associated with our club a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and successful athletics New Year. Let's not forget that in 2020, we have the excitement of the World Indoor Champs 13-15 March in China and the big one, the Olympics in Tokyo 24 July-9 August!!
Due to this October's half term being longer than usual, there will be no Juniors Athletics on Thursday 24th and 31st October. They will restart on Thursday November 7th. Circuits are NOT affected and continue as usual over the half term.
