Please note that unfortunately the session on Monday 20 August has had to be cancelled. Please pass it on.
22 July Despite stifling temperatures at Exeter at the weekend,Wiltshire picked up a big haul of medals. Huge congratulations to Callum Rea for his Gold Medal in the SM High Jump and his Silver Medal in the SM100m. Excellent Gold Medal to U17M Will Morris in the 1500m.
Well done to Jacob, Georgia, Will and Matt who all represented Wiltshire at the South West Schools competition on Saturday. They all achieved new personal best performances which was brilliant!
We are now well into the summer outdoor season and our athletes have all ready been competing both over the previous winter and this spring. The three Indoor Grand Prix Meetings at NIAC, Cardiff gave several of our older athletes some high class competition and good experience at how to adjust to an indoor environment. They even came away with some SW medals!
Talking of medals, some of our athletes came away with an impressive amount of bling from our County Championships in May and are hoping to represent Wiltshire at the SW Inter Counties at Exeter later on in the summer. By the time our next Newsletter is written, we will have had our athletes competing at the County Schools and from there hopefully in the SW Schools Championships, both of which take place in June.
Our Juniors Group continues to flourish but sadly we are full to capacity and the books are closed. There is a Waiting List which will be reviewed in September as long as we can attract some more regular helpers. The annual Inter Club QuadKids competition hosted by MADJA took place in April and we had quite a few youngsters taking part and having fun. Three of them went on to compete at the Wiltshire QuadKids competition at Tidworth in May and acquitted themselves really well.
We are delighted that one of our sprinters, Jacob Wilkinson has qualified as an Assistant Coach and as soon as there is another course planned nearby, we have two parents interested in going on the course which is excellent.
We have saved the best news until last - We are absolutely thrilled that Assistant Coach Charlie Goodwin has been selected to represent England in the Cerebral Palsy World Games taking place in Spain in August! This is so well deserved and is a testament to all the hard work and dedication he has put in over the past few years and we can't wait to hear how he enjoys his first taste of international competition. GOOD LUCK from all of us Charlie!
I have taken the decision to cancel the Junior session tonight as it is still raining and might get even heavier. Enjoy half term and we will restart Thursday 14 June.
Please note there is no training this Bank Holiday Monday 28 May
