Welcome to Lavington Athletics Track & Field Offical Website

Our latest Lavington news articles

Our allowed time on the track at Dauntsey's has sadly come to an end as they need to quarantine their Boarders prior to the start of their next term.  We are very grateful to them for the weeks that we have been able to use their facility.

For the next few weeks at least, we will be training on the Elias Sports Field in Market Lavington, just up from St Barnabas Primary School.  Please note that training will take place on THURSDAYS only.  New timings will be as follows:

Juniors 5-6pm

Older group 6-7.30p.

As it is a sports field, there are no facilities or access to water so make  you bring plenty with you.  Also, take note of the weather forecast and bring the appropriate clothing, hat, sunscreen etc.

There are still a lot of people who need to pay their club membership before the end of this month.  It remains a very affordable £10 per year which it has been since the club was formed!  If you know you still owe for it, make sure you bring it with you please.

Jacob, one of our Assistant Coaches has gone back to his Uni for his 3rd year so we are short of coaches and cannot accommodate everyone, especially whilst this dreadful virus abounds.  Those wishing to train MUST contact Deborah to book a slot as spaces are limited.  Please do not just turn up and expect to be able to train.

Please note that the session is cancelled for the Juniors on Thursday 1 August due to thunderstorms.

New Entry Directions to the track

Please note that our usual way into the track has changed.  Entry is via the main school gates, up the drive and follow the one way system round to the roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout into the car park, go to the end and park on the right hand side by the track.  Parents are to drop off and go only as the school has dictated that no staying on site to watch is allowed.  Those training MUST bring more than one bottle of water as there are no facilities available to us on site at the moment.  Strict 2m Social Distancing must be observed at all times.  The last Juniors training session we can have at the track before it is closed to us will be Thursday 13th August and the last older group session will be Monday 17th August, so after that we will be looking for somewhere to use  outside.

Please note that we only have use of the track on Mondays and Thursdays until the 17 August.  If you want a session make sure you get your request in to Deborah before then.

Huge apologies, but the online Booking System is proving very unsatisfactory so it is being binned.  Instead, please email Deborah stating which session you would like to attend and she will let you know if that is possible.  Please bear in mind there are only 5 people permitted at a session so you may not be able to have your first choice.  If someone cancels then I can re offer the slot.

We are now permitted to do some limited training back on the track at Dauntsey's School.   We can only have the track for 4 weeks from Monday 20th July to Monday 17 August as the school will have some pupils quarantining after that.    Our timings will be as before which are:

Mondays 6.30-8pm Ages 10 and up Session fee £4

Thursdays 5.30-6.30pm Juniors £3

Thursdays 6.30-8pm Ages 10 and above. £4

We have had to raise the fees as we will struggle  to pay the high fee that the school charge us for the track simply because the numbers we can coach are severely restricted. 1 coach per 5 athletes at any one time.

Those booking a slot must bring their £10 club Membership fee with them (unless they have all ready paid) as well as the session fee.  Please try and bring the exact amount as it will save time and less handling of money by our coaches.  As we can only have the track for 4 weeks, people can only book one session so as to be fair to all our members.  After the 4 weeks, we will look at sourcing an local outdoor venue.

In order to attend a session, you will need to click on the Booking link on our club Facebook page.  You will see the dates our coaches are available.  Should any of the sessions not have 5 athletes booked in, I will put a post on the Facebook page on that date and offer those slots.  Please be advised that our long jump coach Sid is only available on Monday 20 July and Monday 3 August.

STRICT SOCIAL DISTANCING MUST be observed at all times.  Remember there are no facilities open to us so bring plenty of water.  The school has informed us that parents are to drop off and collect only.  Watching will not be permitted.

I apologise that the Booking can only be done online and via our private club Facebook page.
