Congratulations to all our athletes who competed at the County Schools Champs at Swindon at the weekend.  Lots of excellent performances and medals. Looking forward to finding out who has been selected to represent Wiltshire at the SW Schools next Saturday

Good Luck

Wishing all our athletes Good Luck representing their schools at the County Schools competition tomorrow (Saturday 8 June) at Swindon.

Bank Holidy Monday 6 May

Please note there is NO training this coming Bank Holiday Monday 6 May.

Great start!

Jacob Wilkinson and Matt Bark Churchill both had an impressive start to their 2019 outdoor season with new personal best performances at the Yeovil Spring Open last Easter Monday.  We wish Jacob lots of luck when he represents his University, Swansea at the upcoming BUCS Championships on the 4-6 May.

A reminder to any athletes planning to enter the County Championships at Swindon on Sunday 12 May that the closing date for entries is this coming Friday 5th May.  There are NO ENTRIES on the day!

For those members who live in our Kennet Area, the Kennet Area Trials are being held at Dauntsey's on Wednesday 15 May. This is where selection to go onto the County Schools at Swindon on Saturday8 June will take place.  Those selected from Swindon will go on to represent Wiltshire Schools one week later on Saturday 15 June at Exeter.

Our Club now trains on Dauntsey's all weather track on Monday and Thursday evenings. From Sunday 19 May, there will be High Jump only sessions on Sundays from 10.30-midday

I am delighted to report that we are allowed to start training on Dauntsey's new tartan track!  The Monday Group will be the first one to start back on Monday 8th April, usual time of 6.30-8pm - we may have to finish slightly earlier until it stays light long enough.  For the first time since the club was formed, I am having to increase the session fee from £2 to £3.  This is to cover the cost of hiring this wonderful facility.  There are conditions we must adhere to until about 25th April and this is that we can only use the track and must stay off the infield.  The school, quite rightly want to keep the track free from wet grass and mud until term time. Therefore we will only be doing sprints and middle distance and possibly the odd hurdles session until their summer term starts.

The Thursday Juniors group and the senior group which will follow on after it, will not start until the following Thursday 18 April.

Everyone should be paying their annual membership now.

Pease note that the Indoor Circuit sessions have now finished.  They will restart later on in the Autumn.

As far as athletics is concerned, we are having to wait for access to Dauntsey's new track.  This is due to certain members of the local Parish Council objecting to its retrospective planning application. The 29th March is when Wiltshire Council will decide whether to grant the retrospective planning permission.  If they refuse, the school will appeal and this will delay our training which will be very disruptive for our many athletes wanting to prepare for the competition season which is  about to start. Considering all the reports in the news about the current obesity timebomb with children, the objectors are being both short-sighted and selfish.

Either way, annual club membership subs for everyone is due now and  remains at a very reasonable  £10 for yet another year. The England Athletics Registration fee which is compulsory for those aged 11 years upwards stays at £15 is also now due and everyone will be receiving an email soon requesting payment.  I will be putting in our bank details for those wishing to pay by BACS.
