Our latest Lavington news articles

Pease note that the Indoor Circuit sessions have now finished.  They will restart later on in the Autumn.

As far as athletics is concerned, we are having to wait for access to Dauntsey's new track.  This is due to certain members of the local Parish Council objecting to its retrospective planning application. The 29th March is when Wiltshire Council will decide whether to grant the retrospective planning permission.  If they refuse, the school will appeal and this will delay our training which will be very disruptive for our many athletes wanting to prepare for the competition season which is  about to start. Considering all the reports in the news about the current obesity timebomb with children, the objectors are being both short-sighted and selfish.

Either way, annual club membership subs for everyone is due now and  remains at a very reasonable  £10 for yet another year. The England Athletics Registration fee which is compulsory for those aged 11 years upwards stays at £15 is also now due and everyone will be receiving an email soon requesting payment.  I will be putting in our bank details for those wishing to pay by BACS.

Please note that the Juniors athletics session this evening, Thursday 31 January has been cancelled.  This is due to the freezing temperatures and snowfall forecast for this afternoon.  Please pass this information on to anyone you know who doesn't check their internet or go on our Facebook page.

Happy Christmas!

Wishing all our athletes, coaches, parents and supporters a very Happy Christmas and here's to a successful 2019.  Restart training dates are posted in this News section so please scroll down to find them.

New World Record for Matt at Cardiff!

The Christmas Classic, the first indoor competition of this winter took place on Sunday 16 December at NIAC, Cardiff.  Several of our club athletes took part, with our U17s competing with the U20s.  U17 Will Morris had a very good first time run over 600m and finished with a very respectable 2nd fastest time for an U17 on the day.  Another U17 Matt Bark Churchill had an excellent day getting not one but 2 new Personal Best performances in his 60m and Long Jump.  Both Matt and Will sportingly then took part in the annual 60m Santa Dash dressed in full Santa outfits.  Matt scorched to victory in a time which was just 3/100 off the World Record for this event. The bonus does mean however that he has been awarded the Junior World Record and will definitely be aiming to smash the Senior World Record next year!

End of year training dates

Please note that Monday night Circuits has now finished and will restart in 2019 on Monday 14 January.  The last Junior session of this year will be Thursday 13 December and will restart in 2019 on Thursday 17 January.

Congratulations to one of our sprinters, Matt Bark Churchill on doing his Assistant Coach Course at Salisbury over the weekend of 24/25th November 2018.  Welcome to our coaching team
